The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) is celebrating the 100th year of professional licensure for engineers.

To ensure public safety, the state of Wyoming became the first to enact a license law for engineers in 1907. All states now grant only a Professional Engineer the authority to sign and seal engineering plans. To become a P.E., an individual must:

  • Hold a 4 year college degree in Engineering
  • Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Work 4 years under a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam (PE)

Once an engineer earns his/her P.E. license, they must keep up to date with continuing education requirements of the state in which their license is held.

Currently, Lochrane has 9 licensed Professional Engineers.
